let food be thy medicine...

Let food be thy medicine,
and let thy medicine be food.
~ Hippocrates

Just a quick note to inform all of you, my loyal readers that the focus of this food-blog will shift ever so slightly. This blog will still contain my food images, recipes, travel, fashion, new trends in food, fun new kitchenware products and gadgets, great new food-related books and restaurant reviews.

This past week I was diagnosed with Celiac Sprue, which means that I will now be eating gluten-free. I am relieved to hear of this diagnosis and happier still that I will be using food to help heal me and make me whole.

I feel that this condition will lead me to wonderful new adventures in food which I am so anxious to share with all of you.

Join me if you will as I eat my way to good health at feasting on…gluten free pixels…

Oh, Terrie, you have such an inspiring attitude. You have truly taken lemons and made lemonade as they say. I so admire you and how you've handled so many difficult situations in your life. Your banner photo and this post photo are simply beautiful. I imagine your recipes for gluten-free foods will wind up being a real public service for many. Here's to you.

You must be very relieved to find the cause and "cure" for your problems..and if anyone is truly prepared to lead the way around restrictions in the kitchen, it has got to be you! I'm betting you're still going to have all of us drooling over every post!

Awww....you sweeties...!
merci mille fois for these supportive words.
You both are way beyond kind, dearest Sue and sweetest Jeanette...

I am indeed feeling a tiny bit better this day, not great, but better.
I know that it will take some time, but in the interim, I have much to learn, much cooking to do with a new view and much to share with all of you.

I am so excited to get well and get started...in fact I have enrolled in a gluten-free cooking class given by an eminent Italian chef whose credential span the globe.

In spite of all the abundance of pasta, Italy has a high degree of Celiacs and have adjusted accordingly to care for their needs.
That in itself was encouraging and enlightening.

I am SO VERY excited to begin learning and then to share this new twist in my food world.

Merci mille fois encore et bisous...xxx

I always love the positive approach to everything you write on this blog and your comments on others. I think the gluten free angle will be a wonderful challenge, and will make your culinary perspective even stronger. I'm looking forward to seeing what you create in the future.

Merci beaucoup Cory for your very lovely and complimentary comment.
As for being positive, it is just my approach to life and I imagine that this trickles down to my approach to food.
I have so much more of this wonderful foodie world to explore from a perspective I would have never imagined last month or even last week.

It is indeed interesting to have a slight shift in my culinary point of view.
As Spring approaches, the window opens to new places and ways to find culinary perfection.

Merci mille fois, cher Cory for your support in my work.
It means a great deal to me as you are always an inspiration.
(And of course I am a great fan of your sweet pup, Sophie...)

I read about the disease (via the link). Obviously hardly any important symptoms in many cases, but you realised it! Good! Especially if you can fix it with your own interesting recipes, whihc I'm sure will be healthy and delisious!

I was thinking of you just yesterday wondering how things were. Now I know. I am unhappy you have this disease but thrilled you have a diagnosis. Now you can adjust and move on. The worst is when you're left hanging with no information on how to feel better. I will say that the posted photo is scrumptious looking, you always know how to make things gorgeous!
